Apple Cider Pork Loin Steak
A quick apple cider glaze adds fantastic flavour to these juicy pork loin steaks.
Recipe
Ingredients
- 4 Pork Loin Steaks
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 1/2 cups apple cider
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 2 tsp orange zest
- 1/2 tsp crushed red chili flakes
- 1 1/2 salt (divided)
Method
- In a small saucepan, combine the apple cider, maple syrup, Dijon mustard, orange zest, crushed chili flakes and 1/2 tsp salt and whisk together continuously whilst bringing it to the boil. As soon as it starts to boil, reduce the heat to low and simmer.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat
- In a small bowl, add the brown sugar, chili powder, garlic powder, dried thyme, pepper, 1 tsp salt and olive oil and stir to combine. The mixture should resemble a dry paste.
- Using paper towel, pat the pork steaks dry, then massage the paste liberally into the meat.
- Once grill is hot, spray with cooking oil then place the steaks on the grill.
- Remove a small amount of the sauce, that's been simmering, from the saucepan and set aside for serving. Use the remaining sauce to brush the steaks and grill for about 4 minutes or so.
- Flip the steaks over, brush with sauce, and grill for about 4 minutes.
- Continue to liberally brush the steaks with the glaze as they cook, and once they're cooked through, remove them to a plate to rest for a few minutes.
- Drizzle chops with the remaining sauce that was set aside and sprinkle with fresh thyme before serving.
